About Khoo Khay Tat

Khoo Khay Tat born in 1938 in Penang. He is a self-taught artist and makes his living as an art-tutor and full-time artist. He traveled to Unites States in 1980 to study Art techniques. He does watercolor mainly, but is also versatile in oil painting and Chinese brush painting.

His works are included in private collections in Malaysia, Unite States, China, Europe, Japan and Singapore.

 

His first exhibited at the 1960 "Six Young Artist Exhibition in Penang". Since then he has exhibited at various such as Penang State Museum and Art Gallery,Penang Art Society, Penang Watercolour Society exhibition  and others. He also participates in numerous group and invitation exhibition in Malaysia and abroad, such as :

 

1993: 3rd International Watercolour Exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan

2001 : 20th Modern Art Exhibition in Osaka, Japan and won an award of 20th Japan Modern Art Association Osaka Japan Education     

Committee Award"

2007 : “Bridging Ties with Watercolour” 2nd Singapore and Penang Watercolour Exhibition @ Singapore

2008 :  The 4th Exhibition of New Expression of Asian Art @ Henan Art Musem, Zhengzhou, China

 

In August 2009, Khoo Khay Tat has been invited by the China Watercolour Art Society  as one of the foreign guest artist  in the Lushan Watercolour Painting Festival 2009.

 

Besides, he is also founder member and Vice-President of Penang Watercolour Society,

> member of National Art Gallery of Malaysia
